Cleaning protocol of a reverse osmosis membrane

CLEANING SCHEDULE

This procedure is recommended for the cleaning of reverse osmosis membranes by fouling colloids and organic matter.

The cleaning was done through the product ECOMET LB-50.

1. Flushing fill up water and raise the water temperature by resistance to 35 ° C.

2. Add 10 liters of LB-50 ECOMET per 100 liters of water.

3. Pour 200 liters of water directly through the pump rejection Flushing, closing the return of water to the reservoir and opening to the maximum recirculation flow.

4. Recirculating the remaining water for 45 minutes.

5. Maintaining the membrane in contact with the cleaning solution during 15 minutes.

6. Circulate water for 45 minutes remaining

7. Maintaining the membrane in contact with the cleaning solution during 15 minutes.

The prepared solution will generate a lot of foam, so we must try to remove as much as possible in the time to clarify the membranes.

MEMBRANES RINSING

Tank is emptied and filled Flushing with fresh water, possibly osmosis, water is passed through the membranes and pour directly from the rejection

Be filled for the second time deposit Flushing of RO water, the water is passed through the membranes and pour directly from the rejection.

Third time will fill the reservoir with RO water to ensure that it stays pH values from 6.5 to 7. If the pH is higher again emptied and cleaned tank while the remaining debris cleaning solution.

Finally, the plant will start opening the rejection as much as possible and working to the lowest possible pressure to clean the membranes for at least 30 minutes until we ensure that both the pH of RO water as the rejection is less than 7.5.

Finally, the plant starts in normal working conditions.

Caution should always be followed the instructions and limitations imposed by the membrane manufacturer and engineering with respect to pH, temperature, flow and pressure during the cleaning of them.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE CLEANING MEMBRANES

• They should always be followed the instructions and limitations imposed by the membrane manufacturer and engineering with respect to pH, temperature, flow and pressure during the cleaning of them.
• Ensure that all components of your system are compatible with the chemicals used, pH and temperature of cleaning.

• We recommend cleaning the membranes on a regular basis or when changes are noticed in the following parameters (standard):
10 to 15% increase in differential pressure.
10 to 15% decrease in product flow.
10 to 15% increase in supply pressure.
10 to 15% decrease in retention of salts.
• Before cleaning the floor we strongly recommend sending an item for autopsy. The data obtained from an autopsy can save time and money. If the problem is organic / biological please sacrificing the first element of the first stage. If the problem Sciences / scale is preferable to the last item in the last stage.

• Failure to understand the nature of fouling recommend starting with an alkaline cleaner SERVYECO the possibility of the existence of humic acids.

• If you know the nature of the deposit, there are several cleaning programs designed. Contact the technical department SERVYECO, SL to choose the right program for installation.

• In general, organic soiling are cleaned with alkaline products (preferably alkaline surfactant) and inlaid with acidic cleaners. In alkaline cleaning is very important to use high temperatures, always within the limits imposed by the manufacturers.

• For optimal cleaning the feed rate should be between 8.5 and 9.5 m3 / h per case of pressure (for membranes of 8 inches).

• The cleaning pressure should be between 40 and 60 psi.

• The volume of cleaning solution must take into account the number of membranes to be cleaned and the cleaning circuit volume. For each 8-inch membrane is recommended to add 20-30 liters.

• Use filtration system of the cleaning solution with a cartridge between 10-50 microns. Replace the cartridges after each cleaning or when exceeding its maximum differential pressure.

• Perform cleaning solutions osmotic water free of chlorine. Add the water cleaners, and ensure that changes in pH and temperature are carried out gradually. To adjust the pH using hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide. Note that small amounts of these products in concentrated form can vary significantly the pH of the solution.

• Alternating periods of recirculation and soaking for cleaning.

• If the cleaning solution shows a strong color change, pour, make a new solution and clean again.

• After cleaning, or between stages of cleaning, washing the membranes and cleaning circuit with chlorine free water.

• In plants with more than one stage, clean each stage individually.
