Cross-Linked Liquid Cationic Flocculant

Cross-Linked Liquid Cationic Flocculant

Description

The ECOPOL CLR series is polyacrylamide based cross-linked liquid emulsified polymers with high molecular weight and different charge densities. These cationic polyelectrolytes act as accelerators in floc formation, generally in flotation systems, and as agents for separation of water from sludge, improving dewatering processes such as centrifuges and band filters.

Because of its cross-linked organic structure based on acrylamide polymer, present a better efficiency in the separation of bulky organic components, as oils and greases, compared with lineal polymers like ECOPOL CL series.

Application

•          Selection

These cross-linked liquid cationic polyelectrolytes are commonly used for two different applications. On the one hand, are used in physical and chemical processes of wastewater treatment as accelerants of floc formation, generally in flotation systems. On the other hand, are used to improve the separation processes of sludge dewatering systems, such as centrifuges or filter presses. Because of its cross-linked organic structure in acrylamide polymer, they have an improved efficiency in the separation of bulky organic components, as oils and greases, compared with lineal polymers of ECOPOL CL series.

•          Dosage

These products are presented in liquid form and applied in aqueous solution (0.2%). For this preparation, the solid product is slowly added over the stirred water, manually or automatically. After a maturation period, the mixture is ready to be dosed by pump.

•          Control

Generally, control of flocculating product efficiency is directly related to the rate of floc formation and its aspect. After dosing, the size of the floc formed in the wastewater must change rapidly, rising steadily to a maximum value. Moreover, the separation of water is more evident, being very visible after collecting a sample dosed with all products.

Benefits

•          Technical

The ECOPOL CLR series presents a group of anionic high molecular weight polymers with different charge densities. A wide range of wastewaters from specific industries are able to be treated, offering a customized solution in almost every case. Polyelectrolyte molecular weight favours crosslinking processes of suspended solids through the polymer chain. Meanwhile, different charge densities allow selecting the optimal treatment that effectively neutralizes the counterion present in the wastewater. .Because of its cross-linked organic structure in acrylamide polymer, they have a better cross-linked ability and a better efficiency in the separation of bulky organic components, as oils and greases, compared with lineal polymers of ECOPOL CL series. It is important to note that the pre-dissolution of the product in water improves substantially its efficiency compared to solid flocculants, as the maturation time is less and the preparation is further stabilized, facilitating automation dosing and avoiding problems of equipment dosage maintenance.

•          Economic

The ECOPOL CLR series presents a wide range of flocculants products with different intrinsic physicochemical properties capable of providing the appropriate treatment in each case and thus, reducing the resources needed for proper treatment or reuse of wastewater. This has a direct impact on decreasing treatment cost, increasing the lifetime of the facilities, the elimination of human resources and limiting generated wastes.
