Description

The ADIPOL series of organic coagulants consist in liquid chemicals which have a high coagulant efficiency mainly focused on its polymer structure and on the strength of the cationic charges. They can work as coagulants or coagulation aids and due to their organic nature pH and conductivity changes are minimized, because these products do not consume alkalinity of the medium. For this reason, the salts increase is totally eliminated after the treatment.

Additionally, ADIPOL CL243 and CL272 base their polymeric structure in poliDADMAC unit repetition (polyallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride). These compounds represent a viable and safe alternative to polyacrylamide flocculants of demonstrated carcinogenicity, currently used in the treatment of water for human consumption.

 

 

Application

•          Selection

In general, ADIPOL series are mainly recommended as coagulant aid in two applications, simply combined with other coagulant in physical chemical treatments, or, during secondary settling treatment in a biological treatment. In this second case, their effect improve, on the one hand, settling velocity and subsequent separation of biological sludge and, on the other hand, sludge dewatering, reducing the use of flocculants.

These liquid products can be dosed either directly or previously diluted.

•          Control

The ADIPOL series effectiveness is distinguished in a very visual way due to turbidity values obtained in the clarified of treated water. The more matter, dissolved and suspended, is destabilized because of coagulant action, the less turbidity values are obtained for these clarified. Furthermore, the floc consistency increases with product effectiveness, so that a high effectiveness of the products gives as a result a smaller sludge volume and easily dewatering because the sludge obtained have a high content of solids.

These organic coagulants of ADIPOL series have a high coagulant efficiency mainly focused on its polymer structure and on the strength of the cationic charges. Due to its organic nature, pH and conductivity changes are minimized. Moreover, sales increment is totally eliminated. Due to the improved coagulant efficiency of these products compared to the inorganic products, the correct separation of suspended solids by sedimentation processes increases rapidly. So, with very low doses settling velocity is notably increased, and, consequently the work flow can be increased. Additionally, the coagulation times are greatly reduced, improving the density of the formed floc and eliminating or significantly reducing the amount of flocculant. The more floc density, the less sludge volume produced.

•          Economic

The technical advantages of these coagulants produce a high number of economic advantages. By not increasing the effluent conductivity, in water recycling processes, the corrosion of the facilities will be avoided, so that the maintenance is much inexpensive. Its higher coagulant efficiency allows more active colloidal aggregation and more consistent floc than with traditional reagents, so that the necessary quantity of product is reduced and also the associated costs. Furthermore, due to the more compact floc formation, the use of flocculants and neutralizing agents is greatly reduced or completely eliminated. For that reason, can be achieved an effective precipitation of floc formed in the first purification stage and the extra costs due to the use flocculant and the use of neutralizing agents (calcium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide) are also avoid. Finally, other advantage is that smaller volumes of sludge are obtained and less toxic sludge are generated so the costs associated to the sludge handling are highly reduced, and metals are not added.
