Liquid Lineal Cationic Flocculant

Liquid Lineal Cationic Flocculant

Description

The ECOPOL AL series is polyacrylamide based liquid emulsified polymers with high molecular weight and different charge densities. These cationic polyelectrolytes act as accelerators in floc formation, generally in flotation systems, and as agents for separation of water from sludge, improving dewatering processes such as centrifuges and band filters.

Additionally, ECOPOL CL 40 and ECOPOL CL 65 slightly differ from other products of this series, since its chemical structure is based on aqueous dispersions. Therefore, these products are easily dissolved in water, requiring shorter reaction time and offering the possibility to prepare more concentrated aqueous solutions with less maturation time. These products offer, in some cases, the possibility of being dosed directly, without previous water dissolution.

Application

•          Selection

These liquid cationic polyelectrolytes are commonly used for two different applications. On the one hand, are used in physical and chemical processes of wastewater treatment as accelerants of floc formation, generally in flotation systems. On the other hand, are used to improve the separation processes of sludge dewatering systems, such as centrifuges.

•          Dosage

These products are presented in liquid form and applied in aqueous solution (0.2%). For this preparation, the solid product is slowly added over the stirred water, manually or automatically. After a maturation period, the mixture is ready to be dosed by pump.

•          Control

Generally, control of flocculating product efficiency is directly related to the rate of formation and the aspect of the floc. After dosing, the size of the floc must change rapidly, rising steadily to a maximum value.

Benefits

•          Technical

The ECOPOL CL series presents a group of anionic high molecular weight polymers with different charge densities. A wide range of wastewaters from specific industries are able to be treated, offering a customized solution in almost every case. Polyelectrolyte molecular weight favours crosslinking processes of suspended solids through the polymer chain. Meanwhile, different charge densities allow selecting the optimal treatment that effectively neutralizes the counterion present in the wastewater. It is important to note that the pre-dissolution of the product in water improves substantially its efficiency compared to solid flocculants, as the maturation time is less and the preparation is further stabilized, facilitating automation dosing and avoiding problems of equipment dosage maintenance.

•          Economic

The ECOPOL CL series presents a wide range of flocculants products with different intrinsic physicochemical properties capable of providing the appropriate treatment in each case and thus, reducing the resources needed for proper treatment or reuse of wastewater. This has a direct impact on decreasing treatment cost, increasing the lifetime of the facilities, the elimination of human resources and limiting generated wastes.
