Solid Flocculants

Solid Flocculants

What are they?

This product line is based on polyacrylamides with various charge densities and molecular weights. Anionic ECOPOL products act as particle aggregators, promoting sedimentation when added after the coagulant.

The use of these flocculants results in better-structured sludge, improving subsequent dewatering processes.

The cationic ECOPOL range includes various charge densities and molecular weights, suitable for rapid floc formation and separation in physicochemical treatment processes—mainly flotation, and also sedimentation when their performance surpasses that of anionic products.

Their use in sludge dewatering systems significantly improves efficiency, achieving very low moisture levels in treated sludge.

Advantages

  • A wide product range allows the selection of the most suitable for industrial applications.
  • Anionic solid flocculants enhance the size and consistency of newly formed coagulates, creating flocs that settle faster with minimal dosage.
  • Cationic solid flocculants promote the formation of spongy flocs that separate efficiently via flotation.
  • In sludge dewatering processes, they ensure strong cohesion of particles, forming flocs that resist the stress of dewatering equipment such as centrifuges and screw thickeners.
  • Products have a high active matter content, reducing the required treatment dose and ensuring high performance.

Application

These solid flocculants are supplied as powder. Once dissolved in water at an optimal concentration of 0.1% to 0.3%, they are ready for use.

Dissolution should involve slowly adding the powder to agitated water. After maturation time, the mixture can be pumped for dosing.

Once dosed, floc size in the wastewater should increase rapidly to a maximum. In sludge applications, the flocs formed must have enough cohesion to withstand the torsional forces of the dewatering equipment.
